VIM is arguably the most productive text editor ever conceived. Although I have been using it for years, it still amazes me with its unassuming power. 
But, not being a zealot, I am always looking for better tools. I really dig the dynamic file viewer in TextMate that allows one to see multiple expanded subdirectories (a la Mac OS X finder). So, I did some looking around and found a VIM plug-in that gives a similar view. Check out the Nerd Tree.
